2006 Chanute Business of the Year Award Application

One Chanute business gives residents two reasons to walk a little taller.  Over their two years in practice, Chanute Chiropractic Center has offered relief to their patients suffering from back and neck pain.  The growth of their client base has rapidly expanded beyond their expectations.  In fact they have added a staff member to assist with the growing response they have received from the community.  They are currently planning a complete remodel of their clinic in order to grow along with the success of their business.  Dr. Nathan Falk will soon be adding a new piece of equipment, a spinal decompression table, the only one in the Southeast Kansas area.

The second reason residents of Chanute are walking taller is pride in the extreme commitment this business has shown in improving our community.  Within his two years of arriving in Chanute, Dr. Nathan Falk has jumped in with both feet to become civic-minded.  He currently holds offices as Treasurer of the Chanute Chamber of Commerce, with his sites set for the presidency in 2007.  He is also a Board Member of Main Street Chanute and is a graduate of Leadership Chanute 2005.

Dr. Falk is also part of the implementation team of the Chanute Community Building Project, heading up the action teams on various projects.  He has also recently joined the Chanute Parks Advisory Board, helping to organize the improvement of our city’s playgrounds and parks.  He and his family, along with his employee’s family, have personally donated time to paint and clean up our city’s playground equipment.

For three years Chanute Chiropractic Center has celebrated a Patient Appreciation Day by providing their services in exchange for donations to Cherry Street Youth Center.

Dr. Falk stepped forward to donate and distribute phone cards to the 891st Engineer Battalion prior to their deployment to Iraq, so that soldiers might call family back at home.

Chanute Chiropractic Center was one local business that reached out with a helping hank to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina by providing Dr. Falk’s services for donations to the American Red Cross Neosho Valley Chapter.

I think Chanute Chiropractic Center is deserving of the Business of the Year Award because of their phenomenal growth over the two years of their practice and the personal commitment they show towards our community.

I have suffered from RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) since an injury to my foot 2 years ago.  My left leg was almost to the point of total non-use, and I was in the third stage of RSD. 

I had wonderful success with Dr. Falk previously when my right arm was losing strength.  I made a full recovery with periodic spinal adjustments from Dr. Falk and now my right arm is back to full strength.  

I continued treatments when I started coming down with RSD in my leg.  Dr. Falk kept my leg in the best possible condition (considering the severity of RSD).  I also began taking a glyconutrient supplement, and with the help of occasional spinal adjustments, I am back on the road to full recovery.
Dr. Falk has a genuine concern for his patients and tried everything he knew to help me before I was diagnosis with RSD.  He kept me going.  I don’t know where I would be today without his help.

I had reoccurring lower back and neck pain for years.  I was referred to Dr. Falk through family and friends that had been to see him and highly recommended that I give him chance.

Then, I was involved in an auto accident which made previous back and neck pain much worse.  When I walked into his office I had severe lower back and neck pain and could hardly walk. 

Thanks to Dr. Falk I am feeling much better with less pain.  Not only am I back to normal, but better than I’ve felt in years.  I am standing straighter, walking without a limp, and sleeping better than I have in a very long time.  All wonderful side-effects of chiropractic care.

I just wish more people would seek Dr. Falk and chiropractic care, instead of medicating themselves to cover-up the problem.

I suffered from a disc injury in my lower back for months.  I have made great progress after seeing Dr. Falk at Chanute Chiropractic Center.  I now have much less pain and I am walking better.

Dr. Falk helped to explain to me what was wrong with my back and how the treatments would be effective at combating such an injury.  Dr. Falk used spinal adjusting that was not painful and also performed traction to help alleviate the pressure on my nerve from the disc. Whatever he did, it worked.

I have consulted many health care providers from all different fields, trying to find help for chronic musculoskeletal pain which comes from fibromyalgia.  Dr. Falk helps keep me aligned, and with the (janitorial) work I do, it is a big help.  Chiropractic spinal adjustments keep me feeling good, and Dr. Falk’s technique surpasses many other chiropractors I’ve seen in the past.  I would much rather take care of my health this way than by taking a handful of medications.

“I’ve been there, done that.”  That’s what I thought when a friend recommended I consult with Dr. Falk.  I suffer with degenerative arthritis of the cervical spine, fibromyalgia, seizures, headaches, TMJ, depression, chronic pain, insomnia, digestive and metabolic disorders.  I have seen a chiropractor very frequently in the past with no relief.  Therapeutic massage was helpful until my spine started to deteriorate at a rapid pace.  I used to run my own business, because of the pain I had to close it up.

Since I’ve seen Dr. Falk, I am now back at work.  I don’t have seizures anymore.  Dr. Falk has been very receptive to alternative therapies and is very informed about the treatment of chronic pain and fibromyalgia.  He is also the most supportive person I’ve met in the health care field.  I know because I’m a registered nurse.

I can’t believe I let the pain get so bad.  I had severe pain both hips from bursitis and spasms for 5 months before I called Dr. Falk.  I had already been the medical route, which ended with 3 very painful shots in both hips, but no pain relief.  Thankfully I consulted Dr. Falk because of a simple newspaper ad.  I got relief after just one treatment, and the pain and spasms were gone after the 4th or 5th visit.  I was so pleased that I now tell all my friends to come see him.  It was quite a change to actually have a doctor sit and listen to my story, and he is so compassionate.  I have my life back now.
